Alone or with a partner, READ and annotate both articles on the Effects of Media Violence--You will find these in the classroom
*For EACH ARTICLE create the following:
3 Yellow highlighted notes for new vocabulary you encounter. Then use an online dictionary to define them words (use the comments feature to define it)
3 Pink highlights that support the author’s claim about violence (add comments as needed)
3 Turquoise highlighted for your own summaries (add comments as needed)
Submit when done and make sure to put who you worked with IN THE COMMENTS if you worked with someone.
Assignment #2--November 21st
Go to Popplet and create an account (I recommend using your personal email and not school in case you need to recover your password)
Using the information from the 2 articles you worked with this week, create a Poplett Diagram to show what you learned (you can use what you highlighted in this)
Create a comparison-contrast diagram which looks similar to the example below.
You will need THREE pieces of evidence from each article (quotes from the article)
You will need to write a 3-5 sentence paragraph where you draw your own conclusion.
Paragraphs should be written in standard English.
Each sentence must have beginning capitalization and ending punctuation.
No slang.
To turn it in, paste the URL to your Popplet into the comments in Classroom and then click DONE to make it as completed

Assignment #3--Assigned November 24th
Using GoAnimate, create an animated video that illustrated 1 of the 4 effects of Media Violence
The animation should explain the effect you chose
The audience should be middle school students
Have fun with it

Assignment #4--Assigned December 5th
Synthesis Paragraph On Body Image.
Using your thoughts from Killing Us Softly 4 and Tough Guise 2, write a well developed paragraph that is at least fivesentences long. The purpose of this paragraph is to synthesizeyour idea(s) about images of men and women in the media, and how these images may or may not contribute to self esteem issues and real life violence.
A basic format to help you get started:
Sentence 1 - This strongly sentence should state your opinion on the topic Sentences 2 - 4 - These sentences should provide at least one specific example (evidence) from either or both of the films, along with an explanation of how/why this evidence supports your opinion. Sentence 5 - This is the concluding sentence of your paragraph. It should bring all your thoughts to a clearly stated close. Your opinion and corresponding evidence should be reinforced.
Read over the rubric requirementsbefore beginning your well developed paragraph. It has also been sent to your Google Drive. As you write, you may wish to have the rubric open and available in another window.
